Ljubljana's red roofs

It's amazing how two distant cities as Ljubljana and Riga look so much alike. I find a lot of architectural similarities but also the whole atmosphere of Ljubljana is so nordic. Here are some shots of the characteristical for Ljubljana red roofs photographed from the Ljubljanski grad (the Ljubljana castle): a mighty medieval fortress, a symbol of the Slovenian capital Ljubljana is an interesting tourist point, the idyllic grounds for long strolls just a glance away from the lively city centre. The Ljubljana castle offers many cultural, historic and entertaining events throughout the year. The Ljubljana castles combine rich historical heritage with cultural activities, as they are also seats of cultural institutions and have museum collections on display. Cooperation between the institutions that administer the castles (the Ljubljana Castle Public Institute, the International Centre of Graphic Arts, the Museum of Architecture and Design, and the National Museum of Contemporary History) was established on the initiative of the individual institutions and is in line with Municipality of Ljubljana’s cultural development strategy. Although the intention of the cooperation between the institutions is to link them into a whole, each of them remains a unique story in itself.
